Research, Development and Specialized Services

R&D, and specialized Service activities of the Department of Electrical Engineering cover fields of communication, radar and sensor systems, and their components.

Activities may be carried out within joint projects, contractual research, or via a direct order.


Microwave Technology

  • Design of antennas or antenna systems for various applications
  • Design of passive microwave elements (filters, power dividers etc.)
  • Design of waveguide and antenna elements, couplers, transitions
  • Simulation of microwave and antenna elements in the software environment CST Microwave Studio


Design of Electronic Equipment

  • Development and design of electronic equipment and circuits with the possibility of prototype production
  • Application of microprocessor technology (AVR, Atmel, Altera)
  • Design of sensors and sensor systems for measuring of physical quantities including data collection and analysis


PCB Prototype Production

  • Prototype production based on PCB designs
  • Possibility of using a laser unit for direct copper machining on PCB
  • Plating line for making PCB holes on PCB 
  • CNC cutter for drilling and mechanical machining of printed circuit boards
  • Laminating press for laminating of multi-layer printed circuit boards (max. 4 layered DPS) 


Radio Monitoring

  • Real time radio monitoring (spectrum monitoring) in the range between 8 kHz and 8 GHz
  • Analysis and recording of signals in the range between 8 kHz and 8 GHz
  • Outdoor measuring with the possibility of recording and analyzing signals
  • Real-time analysis, classification, demodulation, and consequent decoding of digital and analog I/Q signals

Signal Processing

  • Multimedia signal analysis (audio, video, radio)
  • Radio signal analysis
  • Generating and verifying signals based on required properties in the range between 1 MHz and 20 GHz
  • Design of analog and digital filters 
  • Design of systems using advanced methods of signal processing in the areas of radar, communication, and sensor technology
  • Signal processing algorithm development for various applications
  • Development and design of systems using DSP (Digital Signal Processors) with the possibility of algorithm parallelism


Anechoic Chamber 

  • Chamber dimensions (L x W x H) 6,5 m x 4,175 m x 2,275 m
  • Pre-certification EMC measurement
  • Measuring of antenna radiation pattern
  • Impedance adaptation of antenna and antenna systems
  • EMS measuring
  • RCS measurement (drones, UAV, etc.)


Satellite Positioning Systems (GNSS - GPS, GALILEO, GLONASS, BAIDU)

  • GNSS application in transport systems (telematics, safety technology, etc.)
  • Accurate (centimeter-level accuracy) location based on reference station corrections
