An important part of the laboratory is the workplace enabling the capture of visual data of various nature. There are industrial sensors for recording black-and-white and color image data, a sensor covering the SWIR region of the spectrum, and sensors providing depth maps or point clouds that represent information about 3D space.

The main part of the laboratory is a cell for testing non-contact detection and localization methods equipped with sensors that provide information about the 2D and 3D representation of the scanned area. These sensors include the Photoneo 3D scanner, which provides point clouds of 3D models of scanned objects. Furthermore, the cell contains a RealSense sensor working on the principle of stereo-vision providing a depth map representing 3D space. There is also an intelligent NI Smart camera, which can apply basic image processing methods and provides already processed information as an output.

There is also a Nit SWIR camera that provides imaging in the near infrared spectrum. It is possible to detect details and defects of objects invisible to the naked eye. Some materials are transparent in the SWIR spectrum, so it is also possible to examine the contents of containers and objects in the normal RGB range that are opaque.

The laboratory's robotic workplace is equipped with a Universal Robots UR3 robot, an ABB YuMi two-arm robot, and Lego Mindstorms Education 9797 and 9695 robotic kits.
