Study program: | B0714A150008 – Automation |
Form of study: | full-time or part-time |
Standard length of study: | 3 years |
Branch guarantor: | Ing. Daniel Honc, Ph.D. |
Characteristics of the studies
Curricula of study are well-balanced being compiled of fundamental theoretical courses and specialized courses. The study includes fundamental courses of mathematics, physics, informatics, broader specialized electrical engineering and electronic courses of as well as specialized expert courses of measurement technology, automation and others. During the course of the study students can profile by selection of optional subjects of their choice. In addition, they will acquire basic information from the areas of economy, environment and law. Completion of mandatory English language course will enable students to gain professional information directly from foreign sources and understand new technologies quickly. In future it will also facilitate their unmediated contact with foreign professionals, customers or partners.
Profile of the graduate
The graduates of the branch acquire theoretical fundamentals in mathematics, physics and also other fields of science; in expert area they get overview of general electrical engineering, programming and usage of communication technologies. Their expert knowledge is mainly in the area of automatic control, dynamic system modelling, technology quantity measurement, signal processing and control application programming. They can use their knowledge mainly in design and service of measurement, information and regulation systems. Acquired insight and knowledge of basic principles as well as ability to grasp modern information and automation systems and their applications allow them to keep track of rapid progress of these technologies in future providing their independent monitoring of specialized publications. The graduates will find their job positions typically in production in departments of measurement and regulation, in development and project organizations etc. Some graduates with good study results can continue in their studies in Master’s programme of the same focus.
Key learning outcomes
The graduates of this study branch are capable of independent or supervised solution of practical problems in operation as well as in service, diagnostics and maintenance of measurement, automation, security and similar equipment, eventually during the production or design in all industries. They will find their job in technical or lower management positions.
Knowledge of Bachelor’s study branch Process Control allows graduates to:
- understand principle of operation of complex measurement, information and control systems in different industries (electrical engineering, chemical, mechanical engineering, food processing, transportation and all others where automation is used), manage operation of such equipment independently on basis of technical documentation, eventually train less qualified employees;
- under leadership build simpler computer controlled automated circuits, revive them and manage work with user documentation;
- under leadership design measurement, information and control systems including their programming, manage work with documentation;
- tune controller parameters in production independently;
- actively broaden their knowledge with new science and technology information by study of domestic and foreign literature, including usage of modern information technologies;
- maintain computer and office equipment including computer networks independently.
