eng Calculation of the capacity of switch area within railway stations with use of simulation methods The paper deals with the research on the capacity of switch area within railway stations using computer simulation. The paper briefly introduces some of the currently used methodologies for the calculation of the capacity of switch area and subsequently introduces the concept of the new method, the basis of which is based on the application of the simulation approach. The simulation approach is particularly useful in view of the fact that it can better reflect the reality of traffic compared to purely analytical approaches. The paper also presents a comparison of results from selected currently used methodologies, results of simulation runs with train delays and results from the newly created methodology. railway station capacity, switch area, simulation
