Description:
It is an innovative project in the field of education and tourism that will enable students and the public to provide effective and interactive education in a sustainable and accessible way, motivating and activating them by combining the principles of gamification, augmented reality and geosocial networks as a modern open electronic source of local geodata. The project seeks to change and modernize the current state of education and to inform students and the public about the available public points of interest concerning current cultural monuments and their history in tourism. The aim of the project is to support the activation and education of students and the public (in the field of tourism and cultural monuments) through geosocial networks using the principles of gamification and augmented reality. The aim is also to share experiences and outputs between partners - the University of Pardubice (UPCE) in the Czech Republic, the Western Norway University of Applied Sciences (HVL) in Norway, and the Destination Management Company Eastern Bohemia (DMCEB). This will help to put into practice the objectives of the project, as it significantly affects tourist destinations and is responsible for destination management, information centers and public relations. Gamification will be implemented using a publicly available application with a modern form of augmented reality, which will enable students and the public to present local information about selected cultural monuments or places in an engaging, activating and interactive way. The project aims to support institutions affected by reduced educational opportunities due to the limitations of COVID19, and also to a selected locality long suffering from the problem of undertourism, also now limited due to COVID-19. The project brings together international participants - a team with two researchers from HVL and five researchers from UPCE. HVL researchers specialize in geosocial networks, data mining, machine learning and artificial intelligence. UPCE researchers specialize in geosocial networks, augmented reality, gamification, e-tourism and cultural monuments. In the Czech Republic, a partner destination company (DMCEB) for the tourism area of interest examined. The project is a synergy of specializations of partners, the use of data mining from geosocial networks with the use of augmented reality. The project will be filled with the activities of four transnational meetings and will include regular online activities for the duration of the project in the form of peer learning through the e-learning and conference tool Microsoft Teams. Activities will also include a seminar and two workshops and supporting lectures for student and professional participants. Project activities will include data mining, as well as analysis and visualization of geodata using 3D models of cultural monuments at specified points of interest at the destination. The project activities will also lead to the development of an application (using open source geosocial network), which is a key output of the project for making the site suffering from the problem of undertourism, more attractive. The activities will also be devoted to output study and teaching materials and professional books in English. The expected results of the project will be a disruptive change in the education of students and the public in the field of cultural heritage, to achieve a high degree of sensibilization of the values and importance of cultural monuments in their surroundings. They should also become more activated and effectively educated in the field of history, cultural heritage and tourism using the activities and outputs of the project, the related application will allow sustainable and accessible expansion of education.
