Research of electromagnetic wave propagation in clouds and methods of GNSS positioning systems

Provider: Univerzita Pardubice
Programme: Studentská grantová soutěž
Implementation period: 01.01.14 - 31.12.14
Workplace:
Team member: Fišer Ondřej
Description:
The aim of the project is a basic research based on long-term experimental measurements on optical wireless link with a length of 60 m on wavelengths 830 and 1550 nm , and the radio link at 122 GHz. All these links are significantly affected by the state of the atmosphere and especially fog, rain, snow, hail, wind turbulence, inhomogeneities of the refractive index, etc. Current issue of optical wireless communications is an analyze of the commissioning of a stable optical link between the ground station and the satellite. Especially clouds are the critical factor of reliability of these links. Due to the unique location of our experimental work we are able to analyze in detail the transmission parameters depending on meteorological parameters in cloud, so we can contribute to the development of satellite communications. Project is a follow-up to two previous student grants, which allowed us to install new meteorological devices at our experimental observatory. Another part of the project is research of positioning methods. Under this section we will analyze the possibilities of increasing integrity of positioning systems using GNSS (GPS , EGNOS, Galileo). Integrity position determination is needed to increase in order to meet the strict requirements of the railway. In our previous work the usage of data about the height has been proposed in order to detect a GNSS error in horizontal plane.
